Do you know what you really need from a partner? While you wait for Mr or Miss delicious to walk through your world, why not try a bit of magic. Lets start with something easy which is bound to set you thinking - even if a little over idealistically - about your mate. Lets go into a daydream... If you lived in the most ideal world imaginable; where you could pick and choose any mate you liked; what would you pick? Which qualities would you rate highly and which features could you do without? Really think about it! Take your paper and we'll go though a few options. Below you will find a very short list of characteristics you may associate with your ideal mate. Think about these questions carefully, and either print them off and use them as a quick questionnaire, or write down the most detailed description your can - using your own words.

As an interesting side-note. If you already have a boy/girlfriend, or a partner, consider writing another description or questionnaire for them. You may be surprised to note where you are compatible and where are plainly are not. How many compromises have you made? What are you prepared to 'let-go' and what are you not? Most people don't have a clue what their ideals and needs are in a partner. Lovers looking for a quick mate will overlook some minor (and a few of the major) preferences just to get to the dating stage. Romantics, on the other hand, take their choices more seriously, and won't waste their time with anybody who doesn't at least appear to fit the whole bill. Compromise is a delicate matter. Only you know how far your ideals will stretch when a potential mate appears, and only you can decide whether the compromises outweigh the rewards. Many think that if only they could find a complete match to their dreams, the relationship would last forever. This may be true - but how long are you prepared to wait for it to happen? Weeks? Years? Romantics have been known to wait many years just hoping for a perfect match. If this is you, then keep the faith! Get around and keep searching. There is no reason why you can't make your wish come true - but it all depends on there you look. So lets tackle that subject next.
