• Screws, bolts, bottle tops and jar lids are always removed anti-clockwise. (anti-off)

• Make a living room easier to live in by using side lights or standing lamps to light the room rather than the main light. A 60watt bulb in a standing lamp will make the room feel much cosier and will also save money on electricity.

• You can remove and install a light bulb even if the light is switched on - the light will simply come on as you screw a new bulb in.

• Picking up broken glass is much safer and easier with a cloth than using your fingers. As a bonus, as you use your cloth, it will also help dry the area of any spills.
