Training Conditions

Before you begin the exercises you have set your self, you must make sure you are in the optimum environment for the job. Your workout room must be warm, but not hot or too cold. The window is best left open to ventilate the room and to help breathing during your exercises. Music is a common problem - should you play music which exercising? If you are undertaking in light exercise to keep fit rather than to build muscle, then yes, play a rhythmical style of song, not too fast or too slow as you will subconsciously train to the speed of this music. If you are trying to build muscle, you must make sure the room is free from all distractions, including outside noise, the TV, music or the rest of the family in another room. It is essential to concentrate while training to help maintain breathing and repetition rates. By concentrating on the muscle you are trying to use, you are almost willing it to grow.

Also try to make yourself enough space to train successfully, this may or may not be possible depending on the room. Some rooms such as the bedroom may be cramped and only allow minimal space for movement. The front room on the other hand may have plenty of space to move around, but at the same time, you may feel you have too much!. Other locations to consider are on the patio, on the lawn or in the kitchen. At the end of the day, choose a location which you feel most comfortable in, where you can concentrate fully and with enough space to successfully train and use exercise machines if you have any.

Clothing should also be considered to maintain the correct training environment. Wear loose clothing such as a T-shirt with shorts or loose trousers although women may prefer a leotard and tights. Don't use anything which may hinder your routine such as overly large cloths or cloths which make you too hot or too cold. The body should be warm during training to help it perform the exercises more efficiently. Tight garments will restrict your movement, which leads to your body pushing out against the restriction. Remember that your body needs to breath not only through the nose and mouth but also through the pores. In your own home you can wear what you wish but leisure centers and gyms recommend and sometimes insist on track suits since you will perspire freely when exercising.

If you feel cold after an exercise, you may need to put on something extra to prevent you from cooling off. Remember that if the body becomes too cool, it will not perform at its best during your exercises.

Finally, always make sure you have something on your feet when you exercise. Your shoes should be comfortable to wear, offer enough room for your feet to breath, have a firm grip on the floor and have a heel on them. The heel is to prevent you developing flat-feet when you train because when you lift weights, your whole body pushes down on your feet. If you train without footwear and on a flat surface, your feet will intern become flat. You must also wear shoes for safety as a dropped weight can injure or break bones unless you have protected yourself. Plimsolls, sneakers and 'trainers' are all the same type of shoe and are recommended for the job. You may feel better wearing a pair of ankle socks or training without shoe laces to let the air circulate better.
