What is Fitness Training?

Fitness training;  sometimes known as Bodybuilding, weight training or 'working out', is the act of lifting heavy objects with the purpose of building muscular size and strength, and/or to loose body fat. Put simply, when you lift weights, use exercise machines or perform muscle gaining physical activities, you are telling your body to become 'strong and healthy'.  In return, your body will try to keep up with the increased demand you place upon it by increasing muscle size and strength, and by burning off excess weight and fat.   Never confuse weight training with weight-lifting or power-lifting which are sports in which a contestants lift the heaviest possible weights in competition lifts.

The act of building up muscle can be performed in many different ways, all with the same overall results. You may use loose weights such as dumbbells or barbells, machines such as the rack or the bench, or even non-apparatus exercises like pressups or pull-ups. All these exercises can be performed either at home or in a gym, on your own or with other people. Money and time need not be constraints as low budget bodybuilding and fast exercise workouts are all easy possibilities.

Fitness Training can also be described as "a series of exercises, performed over a period of time, on a number of different days - with sufficient rest periods between each exercise and each training day." The length of these rests and exercise sessions will be described in great detail further on in the guide. Also to be taken into consideration is your diet (which may need to be modified once you start training), your general daily activities, and your attitude must all change  to make your efforts as beneficial as they can be, and all these aspects will be defined later on.
